Happy Birthday Livi!

Your first year has sped by and now you are well on your way to being a big girl. Today I thought about the first time I held you in the hospital. Even then you were interested in communicating. You stared in my eyes and wanted me to talk about it all and as long as I kept talking you were happy. Now you are doing all these incredible things, like passing out kisses, saying words, singing, dancing, reading books and most recently, barking like a dog. You are amazing and very advanced. I thank God for you every day but especially today on your first birthday.

catching up

Not much time for blogging lately. I haven't even had time to read my favs this week. I have started working at the store two or three nights a week and I am too tired to type when I get home. I also have homework that I am behind on. Class meets tomorrow. I should go finish it but just don't have it in me tonight. Cara is in Orlando for Disney's Grad night. I am in Tampa and Carl is home keeping the home fires from burning hopefully. We are about 14 miles from the fire that is blazing in Putnam County. Last I heard it has consumed 1600 acres and was still going strong. The wind was blowing it south away from us but the conditions are ripe for disaster all over Florida. Katie is neck deep in alumni this weekend with several events to manage and Jesse and Leaa are busy painting their porch and planting sod. Their house is looking good! Some lucky grandparent should be able to steal a little time with Livi. Wish it was me. Peace.

flying by

It does not seem possible that our baby is old enough to be graduating from high school. Just preparing myself for the day that is quickly approaching.

Work blog

I shared horror stories with my students in a Power Point class last night about some of the terrible presentations I have endured. Like the hour long presentation from a DOE spokeswoman that we couldn't actually see because she had used a size 12 font. It was obvious she had spent a lot of time making it. The fonts in her charts and graphs were even smaller. And her handouts were also not legible. Go DOE. Or how about the poor misguided instructor from Florida Learning Alliance who thought it would be a good idea to use 270 slides to get us through her planned six hour lecture, no lie. She read them all. At the end of the day she mentioned she would use the same method on day two. I had a family emergency quickly arise so I couldn't attend on the second day. Someone close was having a mental breakdown. I am trying a prompt with this month's class to encourage them to write on our follow up blog. Wanna see?
